The Forward Prizes are among the most prestigious awards open to both established and emerging poets in the UK. They recognise the best collections, best first collections and best individual poems published in the previous year.
Each year we put forward three poems which appeared in Neon for the Forward Prize for Best Single Poem – an honour that comes with a top prize of £1,000 and publication in this year’s Forward Book of Poetry. Here are our three nominations for 2023:
“The Horse From Pit 91” by Devon Moody
“The Shadow Man Travels” by Jennie E Owen
“Circle’s End” by Helena Olufsen
All three poets appeared in issues 54 and 55 of Neon Literary Magazine, along with many other amazing writers. Digital copies of both issues are still available to download for a price of your choosing, so please do pick up a copy and support our creators!
We’ll find out later this year if any of our three nominations have been shortlisted. In the meantime, the best of luck to all of them!
