The annual Shirley Jackson Awards recognise outstanding achievements in the literature of psychological suspense, horror, and the dark fantastic. They’re named after Shirley Jackson, a prolific novelist and short story writer whose output includes “The Lottery” and The Haunting of Hill House. Shirley Jackson should be a household name to anyone with even a passing interest in horror.
It’s therefore an honour to be able to nominate three stories which appeared in Neon last year for the Shirley Jackson Awards. Our nominations are:
“\Star Creature\” by Chris Neilan
We wish these three writers the best of luck, and hope that the jury of the Shirley Jackson Awards enjoys their work every bit as much as we did!
