The Pushcart Prize, awarded annually, is a prize and anthology which seeks to recognise brilliant work published by the small press. It’s open to nominations of fiction and poetry from literary magazines and periodicals.
Each year we nominate several of our favourite pieces from the last twelve months of Neon Literary Magazine. We love everything we publish, so it’s an incredibly difficult task picking just a few writers to put forward.
That said, here are our selections for 2020:
“Ferdowsi Tankam” by John McClelland
“The God of Goosemeadow Lane” by Verena Kyratzes
“Steam Dragons” by Anthony Cartwright
“\Star Creature\” by Chris Neilan
We wish each of our nominees the very best of luck, and look forward to the announcement of the selected pieces in 2021. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy reading their work as much as we did!
