The annual Pushcart Prize is a unique award, intended to recognise the very best fiction, poetry, and essays published in the small press world.
Each year we nominate several of our favourite pieces from the last twelve months of Neon Literary Magazine. We love everything we ever publish, so it’s an incredibly difficult task picking just a few writers to put forward.
That said, here are our selections for 2019:
“Everything Bitter” by Elizabeth Johnston
“Long Distance (Stars and Stars)” by Abi Hynes
We wish each of our nominees the very best of luck, and look forward to the announcement of the selected pieces in 2020. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy reading their work every bit as much as we did!
