Several months ago I asked for proposals for chapbook and pamphlet projects. I was blown away by the variety and creativity of the responses I received from writers all over the world. The selection process was almost impossible, but over many weeks I narrowed down the list to just a few projects. Now, after a great deal of editing, typesetting, planning and proofing, I can announce that Neon‘s first ever chapbook and first ever pamphlet will arrive later this year.
The pamphlet is by Holly Jensen – a poet and writer from Ohio, whose work has appeared in PANK, Pear Noir!, Kestrel, Star*Line, The Midwest Quarterly, and elsewhere. Its title, Selected Timelines: Past And Future, should give some clue as to what it’s about – but I’ll leave any further detail mysterious for now, and say only that it’s a very exciting and very unique little book of poetry. If you want to be sure to receive a copy when it’s published, the best thing to do is to subscribe to Neon – each pamphlet I publish will be distributed for free alongside an issue of the magazine.
The chapbook is by Tracey S Rosenberg, and is titled The Naming Of Cancer. Tracey was awarded a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award in 2010, and has already published one chapbook with Stewed Rhubarb Press. I’m thrilled to be working on her second with her, and it’s shaping up to be a wonderful book. Some of Tracey’s work appeared in issue 37 of Neon earlier this year. The issue is still available for download if you’d like to sample her excellent poetry. If you want a copy of The Naming Of Cancer, you can order it using the links in the box below.
Two other chapbooks are also being assembled, and I’ll announce them in due course. If you’re significantly intrigued and would like to receive all three without the hassle of ordering them individually, then please do place a pre-order below – the chapbooks will be delivered over the course of the next year or so, and I’ll even include free copies of Neon‘s pamphlet series along with them.
